CS Energy (formerly Conti Solar) a leading integrated energy company that develops, designs and builds optimized projects in the solar, storage and emerging energy industries, announced that three of the company’s projects have been selected as winners in “The 2019 Engineering News Record (ENR) Regional Best Projects Awards.” Independent juries of industry leaders in design and construction from each of ENR’s 10 regional editions judge construction projects using five criteria, including safety, innovation and teamwork.

For the ENR New York region, Cinnaminson Landfill Solar Farm, located in Cinnaminson, New Jersey, was selected as “Best Project” in the Energy/Industrial category. Built over a Superfund site, the 13.0 MW project is part of PSE&G’s “Solar 4 All” program, which is concentrating on turning landfills and brownfields green by building solar farms on otherwise unusable sites. The Cinnaminson Landfill Solar project now has the capacity to power about 3,500 homes with clean energy. This project is a stellar example of how previously untenable space such as a landfill can be converted into a green energy generating field.

For the ENR New England region, the Gold Meadow Farms Solar Project, located in Cranston, Rhode Island, was selected as “Best Project” winner in the Energy/Industrial category. Owned, designed and now operated by Captona Partners and the state’s largest solar installation to date, the 21MW solar farm was developed by Southern Sky Renewable Energy and constructed by CS Energy. Prior to development, the Gold Meadow Farm’s property, (at one time in the past a dairy farm) was unused and overgrown with substantial stone ledge, which presented a challenging environment for solar development. The site now benefits approximate 2,200 Providence, Rhode Island homes by powering them with clean, renewable energy.

For the ENR Mountain States region, Hill Air Force Base Solar, located at the Hill Air Force Base, Utah, was selected as the Merit awardee in the 2019 “Intermountain Best Projects Winners” in the Energy/Industrial category. Energy Systems Group, the Air Force’s Energy Savings Performance Contractor, contracted CS Energy to engineer, procure and construct the 3.55 MW system. The project, which entails the installation of a new solar array at the base, will save the Air Force millions of dollars over the 20+ year lifespan of the system and brings the Air Force Base one step closer to microgrid capability with the potential to expand the project size and capability to add electric storage to the system.

Eric Millard, Chief Commercial Officer, CS Energy, added, “It is an honor to be recognized, especially with very respected and successful EPCs and developers competing in the categories. It truly speaks to the skills, passion for excellence and commitment that our regional teams display on a daily basis.”
