Edison, NJ, October 22, 2024 – CS Energy announced that its Vice President of Operations, Janani Ramkumar, has received the NJBIZ Leading Women in Business Award. Honorees are recognized by NJBIZ, New Jersey’s leading business journal, for making a significant impact on business in New Jersey as well as in their communities. Ms. Ramkumar received this award due in part to the fact that she founded and led innovative company departments and programs at CS Energy. Under her leadership, the company successfully constructed over 1.8 GW of solar and 650 MWh of energy storage across 19 states, resulting in a 122 percent annual revenue increase. Ms. Ramkumar was selected to receive this distinguished award alongside executives from other well-known organizations such as JPMorgan Chase, Johnson & Johnson, and Bank of America.
"We are proud to have such an intelligent, strategic, and results-driven leader like Janani as a key member of our executive team," said Kevin Magayah, Executive Vice President of Operations at CS Energy. "In addition to driving a 200 percent increase in solar capacity, Janani co-founded our first mentorship program and employee resource group. Her dedication to mentorship and her commitment to building a sustainable future for all are truly exceptional."
The NJBIZ Leading Women in Business Award recipients were recognized due to the following: performing at the top of their industry, achieving significant career accomplishments, commitment to community service, and for having a strong, positive impact within their industry. In total, just sixty executive women in the entire state of New Jersey were selected to receive this prestigious award.
Ms. Ramkumar was specifically selected for this award because she has played a pivotal role in advancing CS Energy’s project execution capabilities within the solar energy industry. By implementing innovative tools and processes, her team reduced design timelines by 66 percent, allowing the company to deliver projects more efficiently. She also expanded CS Energy’s expertise in engineering, estimating, and energy storage, further strengthening the company’s position in renewable energy. Additionally, Ms. Ramkumar currently oversees company operations in PJM and New England, where she is leading the largest solar project in the Northeastern United States. This groundbreaking project created 200 jobs and will power 12,000 homes, solidifying Ms. Ramkumar’s impact on both the energy sector and local communities. Her team also designed and assisted in the development of a 215 MW portfolio of New York State’s first utility-scale solar projects in partnership with Goldman Sachs, NYSERDA, & National Grid.
In addition to her technical and business accomplishments, Ms. Ramkumar is a leading champion for diversity and mentorship within the renewable energy industry. She co-founded CS Energy Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE), the company’s first mentorship program and employee resource group. Her dedication to mentorship has been equally impactful, as she has personally mentored over 40 professionals at CS Energy, resulting in 30 promotions and positioning over 21 mentees for the company’s executive training program. Since 2022, Ms. Ramkumar has also been a chapter leader on the Steering Committee for the WRISE NY Chapter, a non-profit dedicated to transforming the energy future through community empowerment and offering extensive resources for women in the industry.
"I’m incredibly proud to be part of a company that truly embodies diversity, equity, and inclusion," said Ms. Ramkumar. "At CS Energy, we've built an environment—both within the company and in local communities—where women and people with marginalized identities feel supported and empowered to thrive in their careers, all while making meaningful contributions to a more sustainable future."
