PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Southern Sky, the primary solar project developer in Rhode Island, contracted CS Energy to design, procure and construct a 6 MW solar array.
Kilvert Street at the time of installation was the second largest solar array in Rhode Island. The project spans two sections, half of the project is situated on a landfill and half is on the ground.
CS Energy designed and constructed this project as one field with multiple paths creating many sections of panels. The project was built in an area with numerous hills creating design and installation challenges for shading and panel angles.
CS Energy managed several subcontractors as well as self-performing post driving. This included surveyors, electricians, and a few different post driving companies provided by RBI.
Since the project was on half landfill, a few sections had to be ballasted with cable trays. The hills made maintaining a constant panel angle challenging. With so many different wire and post methods being done on site, the team had to closely track each aspect of the project to ensure that it was being done properly and schedule was being maintained.
