PROJECT DESCRIPTION

BlueWave Capital contracted Conti to help convert three lots in Mendon, Massachusetts into three solar arrays, each approximately 1.3 MWdc in size.

The project was slated to begin in the late summer and achieve mechanical completion before the end of the year. Through a community solar program, this project provided National Grid electric customers an option for clean energy.

As the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contractor, Conti provided permitting support, engineering, procurement, construction, interconnection, commissioning, testing and startup as a complete turnkey package to BlueWave Solar. Conti designed all aspects of the Facility including the layout, civil, electrical and structural components while remaining in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and location laws, regulations, codes, licenses and permit requirements.

One of the challenges that arose during construction was the building of an access road that crosses over a large-diameter, high pressure natural gas lines in two locations. Completing this task in the field required careful design, management and coordination with the Utility to safely perform the task.

On a separate note, due to the project’s location on an active cattle farm abutting a residential neighborhood, Conti remained flexible to accommodate the neighbors and the landowners, including the installation of extra fencing, screening, and plantings, along with adjusting our sequencing and daily operations.
