PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Located on Hobomock Street in Pembroke, Massachusetts, Conti Solar, Onyx, and the Town of Pembroke worked together to convert the capped landfill into a solar array. Once an old dump that started accepting waste in the 1920’s, the landfill is now generating clean renewable energy for the town.
Conti was responsible for all design, engineering, procurement and installation of the 3.256 MW DC Solar array. This site is located on a 210-acre parcel where 29 of those acres is a capped landfill. Conti followed all applicable federal, state, local and laws to protect the landfill cover system and the nearby wetlands. In order to adhere to strict engineering guidelines, Conti installed a ballasted ground mount system and utilized low-ground pressure equipment during installation.
The construction timeline was a huge challenge on the project as we were constructing during the cold Northeast winter months. Conti utilized creative construction methodologies. Conti’s management team worked closely with the town to ensure we met all town requirements while completing the project on schedule.
